Award for solar electric catamaran
First prize awarded for the best innovation: Okeanos Pearl solar boat
December 2017 – President Edouard Fritch and Tourism Minister Nicole Bouteau announced the winners of the 1st edition of the Tourism Awards in French Polynesia. The award for best innovation went to the Okeanos Pearl, the first solar electric boat in French Polynesia, designed by Soel Yachts.
The Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa is delighted and proud to present the Okeanos Pearl as their solution for sustainable sea transport. The Okeanos Pearl is the first SoelCat 12 solar electric catamaran type. From its sleek line to its advanced technology, this gem can also be used as a mobile AC generator.
The catamaran is an important asset for sun destinations aspiring to preserve their environment. Pearl Resorts of Tahiti was the first hotel chain in Polynesia to say yes to this ambitious product and to embark on this adventure with the Okeanos Foundation for the Sea, Soel Yachts and Naval DC. The Polynesian hotel group is eager to promote eco-sustainable tourism for the future of the islands. With the Okeanos Pearl electric boat the resort started to offer sunset cruises, half-day or full day excursions and private tours. The solar catamaran can also be used for transfers of resort guests and local residents. An unforgettable experience – silence on water and zero emissions!
